Launching Ideas ... Recovering History

The authentic replica Curtis A-1 Triad aircraft, meticulously assembled from scratch by the Patuxent River Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) took center stage at the February 8, 2014 Meet the Airplane exert at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum.

As always, the Meet the Airplane event had something for everyone. Some enjoyed dogfighting in the mach Combat flight simulators.

Others attempted to successfully land the F-14 on the improved carrier deck, complete with four arresting wires. The F-14 flys its approach down a string which is manipulated by the pilot standing some 15 feet from the flight deck.

While others carefully studied the layout of the trainer cockpit mock-up.
