In 1959, the MiG-21 became the most advanced Soviet fighter following World War II. Many MiG-21s are still flying with air forces around the world.
MiG combines the last names of aircraft designers Artem Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich. Fishbed was the code name used by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
This authentic MiG-21 cockpit was recovered from a scrapyard in Dresden, Germany and was studied at NAS Pax River after being restored and donated by John Padukiewicz.
It took more than 2,500 hours of restoration process to make it look the way you see it now.
