Quick Facts
Nicknamed “Stoof”, the S2F was the first carrier-based aircraft able to both search for and attack submarines.
S-2s were equipped with multiple sensors, including a search radar, sonobuoys and searchlight.
An internal weapons bay accommodated torpedoes, mines and deep bombs.
The Tracker’s S-2D version featured a longer and wider fuselage, larger wing and tail surfaces, also longer engine housings to accommodate additional sonobuoys.
