Northrop Grumman C-2A Greyhound
Quick Facts
Quick Facts
The Grumman C-2A is a carrier-based transport aircraft that carries high priority-cargo (special stores, aircraft engines, mail and passengers) to and from deployed aircraft carriers.
It was based on the E-2 Hawkeye, for which the 1955 contract required the aircraft, with folded wings, to fit in the hangar bay of Essex-class aircraft carriers.
When the E-2A first flew in October 1960, the basic details of a transport version (the C-2A) had already been defined.
The last of these C-2As was delivered in 1989.
