The X-47 was nicknamed The Kite. The X means an aircraft is “experimental”, dedicated to evaluating advanced flight concepts and technologies.
The Pegasus was constructed largely of composite materials to reduce weight and radar signature.
The diamond shape was chosen to redirect radar energy and further increase its “stealthiness”.
The engine inlet design prevented radar reflections from the engine’s fan.
